Jesus states that He is the truth. If He is the truth, then He cannot lie. Jesus spoke of Hell because it is certainly a real place. Throughout scripture it is described as a place of eternal torment. Hell is a place of burning without the fire being quenched. It is an eternal state of loneliness because God is not with that soul. Many will choose not to have God in their life here in this life. After we die, our soul must reside somewhere eternally because we are eternal beings, since we are made in God’s image. If a person dies without Christ’s salvation, that soul will be thrown into the lake of eternal fire.
When I was in middle school, I took on a challenge with a group of Christian friends. We agreed to cross through a tunnel after sun down to see how long we could handle the darkness. I realize the danger we put ourselves in because these tunnels were for flood control, but let’s continue for the greater reason behind our stupidity. We waited for the sun to go down and looked behind us as the faint haze of sunlight faded away. We turned on our flash lights to make sure no one else was in the tunnel , ahead of us, then we looked at each other and simultaneously turned off our flash lights.
I had never experienced such darkness. We literally could not see our own hands when we held them right in front of our own face. In a few words, I recall it being terrifying. We walked for two minutes and began to panic, so one in our group said, “let’s sing a song.” None of us could think about anything else, but the thick darkness that encompassed us, completely. So, that same friend began singing a hymn. I remember feeling instantly happy to hear a song that could help me focus on Jesus because He tells us that He is the light of the world. We lasted only until the end of the song before we all caved in and turned on our flash lights. We hurried to the end of the tunnel and discussed our experience together.
Reflecting, years later, I can say that Hell definitely came to mind when I recalled the verse described in Matthew 22:13, “Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” As an adult, I view Hell as that tunnel (not literally, hear me out). I believe the fear and the absolute consuming darkness we felt, will be multiplied in Hell because it will be an eternity, never ending because it will be outside of time. Unlike our flash lights, in Hell, no one will be able to “control” anything! The fear will intensify, the separation from God will not only be literal, but without God, there is only hate (instead of love). It will be a state of consuming terror that will have no end. Torture, that will repeat and repeat, with no escape! Unlike being in a tunnel, in Hell hope doesn’t exist. At least, while in that dark tunnel, I knew that I had a flash light in my hands that I could flick “on” at any time. I had the hope that this was brief and we would be out in no time. In Hell, hope doesn’t exist, my friend, that alone should make you stop and think.
Here, people joke about wanting to go to Hell because that is where their friends will be, but they say it because they still have control. They know they’ll see another sunrise or sunset. They know they have their “comforts” they can turn to, in which they’ll find even temporary comfort in, like with food, sleep, sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. But Hell will not have ANY COMFORTS! As we walked through that horrific darkness, I recall how much I wanted it to end. I wanted the fear to stop, I was clinging onto hope. I wanted to get to a safe place and fast! My friend, in Hell, there is no escaping. People in Hell will never be reunited with a loved one. It will be an all consuming Hell where people will beg to die to escape, but there is no death, no happy memories, nothing positive. The last words that will resound in that person’s ear will be, “Depart from me, I never knew you!” That person will be very conscious of the fact that they are in Hell because they didn’t have Jesus. If you don’t know Jesus, that my friends, is terrifying!
In Matthew 25:41, it reads, “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!” No one spoke more of Hell, than Jesus did. He created it for the devil and the angels that fell with Satan into rebellion. It was never intended for humanity. In Revelation 21:15 “Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death – the lake of fire. ” We all die once, but if you die in your sins, you will die twice, the second death is mentioned here.
In Revelation 21:8 “But as for the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, idol worshipers, and all those who lie, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. That is the second death.” This list is a list that is amoral. Morality is a set of regulations that were placed by God for humanity. To not have Jesus as your Savior, makes you full of sin, so just as the law in any country applies for those that break the law, it is the same with God’s law. In I Timothy 1:9-10 it reads, “We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine…” All who are not found in Jesus are looked upon as God’s law breakers and the law has to punish the crime, just as in our justice system. It stems from God’s justice system.
I hope you know Jesus. If you don’t, please set aside your pride for a second. This is not a subjective “opinion.” I realize that to a non-Christian, an atheist, an agnostic, a naturalist all of these claims seem subjective and mere opinion. To the skeptic, I merely challenge you to question yourself. We all have faith in something. Even an Atheist has faith in Atheism or in him/herself, faith that one’s car will start, faith that tomorrow will be just another work day. As far as evidence for God is concerned, take your pick, there is not a lack of it. I will post many discussions that address the scientific community. Science helps prove God’s existence, but to the stubborn person that truthfully doesn’t want to submit to anything or anyone, it comes down to a moral issue, not proof. It comes down to pride. There is nothing that has been found archeologically that has yet disproved the Bible. If anything, there are multiple findings that have proven Biblical textual people and events.

“Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me. So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven.”

I know a question might come to mind, as to “why Christianity?” Why not any other “religion?” I can’t wait to share those reasons with you! They are good, reasonable questions that deserve an answer and the answer is available, but the action that is required on one’s own part is up to that person because we all have freedom of choice. In a world of absolutes, there are only two choices at the end, with God. There is a devil and although many do not believe in him, he wants for everyone to pick ANYTHING except Jesus. He lost the war and now it’s just a battle for how many souls he can take to Hell with him. Don’t be deceived by his lies. You are either for Jesus or not.
These are words coming from God. If you’re reading this right now, remember, you still can ask God to reveal Himself to you and repent. None of us know if tomorrow is a guarantee, any of us could die suddenly. Please take Jesus seriously! The Bible states that, : “It is appointed unto men once to die and after that the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). There are no second chances after death, everyone faces God, whether you choose to believe it or not.
Do you know Jesus, but have family members that don’t? Pray for them, starting today. There is a battle for everyone’s soul, let’s get people into eternity with God! Prayer is powerful! Never cease your prayers. If you want to ask Jesus to forgive you, pray this prayer and mean it. Hell will also contain false converts because God is not mocked, He sees the heart! Pray, ” God, I know that nI am a dinner in your eyes. I know that Jesus paid for my sins on a cross 2,000 years ago and rose from the dead. I need saving, please save me from Hell. I accept Jesus as not only my Savior, but also as the new Lord of my life. Forgive me, God, I repent. Amen.”
