Lies That Look So Good!

Let’s face it, our enemy (the Devil) is not going to make a lie obvious, he’s going to make it look really “good” in order to deceive someone. Remember, he uses the same sins he used in the Garden of Eden because it is in line with our sinful nature; lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh & the pride of life.

One of the latest “Christian trends” I’ve noticed being so popular are Angel cards. They are selling like crazy and have even made an entrance into some Christian book stores. Some of the descriptions include; “envoke your intuitive abilities”, “tap into Devine guidance”, “renew your spiritual connection”, “connect with your guardian angel.” It sounds harmless enough. Aren’t angels good spiritual beings that are there to protect us, from harm? So why not?

The Bible warns us that we are to keep away from witchcraft (black/white magic, sorcerer’s & witches), mediums (those called psychics, tarot card readers, fortune tellers), necromancers (those that speak or contact the dead), Omens, oracles. What do all these things have in common? They all originate from Satan and not God. They lead to lies, disappointments and destruction.

I knew a fellow Christian that lost her husband unexpectedly. She and her two kids were devastated at the news. In her loneliness, she admitted, that she had gone to a medium to contact him, so she could talk to him just one more time. I cannot imagine her pain and suffering and it appears to be a sincere plea when mourning a loss, but the Bible does not support this. When we give our lives to Jesus, we are saying He is sovereign over all areas of our lives. Sovereign means, “a person that has supreme power and authority.” When we run to a lower being to solve our troubles and not God, we are saying that we trust more in that lower being than in God Himself, who is all mighty! Ouch! That is serious.

Isn’t it interesting that mediums contact the DEAD? Listen closely, Jesus tells us that He is the God of the living! In Mark 12:18-27 Jesus was approached by the Sadducceas, they were inquiring about the resurrection because their particular faction did not believe in the resurrection. Jesus corrected them because their reasoning was way off, but that’s a whole Bible study, in and of itself. My point is that Jesus said, ” 27 He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.” So in the end, their mistaken belief was quite “sad, you see?” I had to bring that in (Sadduccea), ok bad joke, but back to the point. The dead in Christ are living souls, through Jesus! Before, when people were in their sin, they were considered the “dead” in God’s eyes because the wages of sin is death. If a person dies in sin, their soul is truly dead. But, when we are in Christ, we are alive and dead to sin. So, when people go to mediums, they are speaking to dead spirits. If that loved one died in Christ, they are alive forevermore! If they died in sin, they are in Hell, eternally.

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ.”

Colossians 2:8

Either way, once the body is burried, the spirit of each person faces God to be judged. That Spirit is confined to it’s eternal place of residence and cannot communicate with loved ones. There are dead spirits called demons. These study humans and are present in the spiritual world. They tell mediums facts about loved ones and this is where the deception lies. People react because they are told details that only those two people could know, but that is because we cannot see the spiritual world with physical eyes. Even John, the disciple, was scorned for falling down and worshipping an Angel. In Revelation 19:10, it reads,
“Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, No, don’t worship me! I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”

So do not allow yourself to be deceived by Angel cards. Just stick to the Bible.

Another deception out there is the Enneagram.

I went on a Christian blog website and found this woman encouraging other Christians to try this, I was horrified. I won’t name her, but I worry about her followers because she has thousands! The Enneagram is a test to find one’s personality type, there are nine. The originator claims to be, Claudio Naranjo, although many seem to want to take the credit. The disturbing part is that he claims that he was able to get this information through “automatic writing.” Automatic writing is an occultic practice where a willing human allows one or more demons to take over their body, possess it and communicate through writing.

The Enneagram is a very clever way to pull Christians away from the Bible and simply distract them into relying on another source to define their own identity. Its focus is toward, self, not towards God. It focusses on the flesh, not on the spirit. Remember, Satan has studied human behavior for centuries, he knows what makes us tick. He also knows sin. As Christians, we know that our “flesh” (old nature before Christ), desires to please “self.” So, of course it can be enticing, just be aware, that the origins are Satanic.

Christians, the enemy will lead you to ANYTHING that points you towards discovering your “self.” We need to know what God has to say about us. The enemy wants each person to be so in love with themselves that they neglect God. Don’t be pulled into this lie that is straight from Satan himself. God knows us better than we know ourselves. God told Jeremiah, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations”Jeremiah 1:5. He knows us and we should not get dragged into anything that doesn’t have its origin from God.

“But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil.” Hebrews 5:14

If you have been dabbling in either of these popular trends, just be warned that it is not from God. Stop and get back into the Word of God and His truth. He wants the best for us because He has redeemed us. We are not our own, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body,” (1 Cor. 6:19-20). May this be a blessing to you today.
