Faith Doesn’t Make It Easier, It Makes It Possible

Faith in God is perhaps the most essential quality that God seeks from every Born Again believer. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, there were many who were held in high regards by God because of their unwavering faith. But take note that those who were, never had easy lives. They were always dependent upon God and walked through life with His guidance, not alone.

Trusting in God

The apex of our faith begins with placing our absolute trust in God. What does that mean and how exactly does that look? Well, first, our relationship with God is knowing who He is, getting familiar with what pleases and displeases Him. When we get to know Him, we can begin to understand Him and accept whenever things in our life change drastically.

Many believers in Jesus are okay until tragedy occurs. Our world is flipped upside down and our faith is shattered. Other times, what seems to be the “perfect plan”, is ripped up by God, leaving us confused. Simply put, our plans do not always align with God’s plans and sometimes His ways are a lot more complicated and difficult.

Trust is defined as having :

“A firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.”

As followers of Jesus, we first believe 100% that His Word is reliable and relevant to our lives today. The Bible is our guide to learning and God and from past generations. We learn how God worked His will in their lives, despite the circumstances, tragedies and suffering that they endured. Proverbs 3:5-6 states,

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”

Our first command is to trust in God alone. It doesn’t say we are to trust in people because they will let us down and can misdirect us. God does not have any desire to misdirect our lives and He will never let us down. We are directed to trust Him with all of our heart. I like what Mark 12:30 says,

'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”

This kind of trust requires our entire being. So, how do we do that when tragedy strikes? Can we trust God when our lives are completely falling apart? The answer is yes. His word is not a suggestion, but a command. We can’t see what the Lord has in store for our lives, but He has the best plan and intention toward us.

Why Worry?

Romans 8:31 reads, “If God is for us, who is against us?” That’s a powerful statement! We spend endless amounts of wasted energy on worrying. Why? It happens when we have reached the point of no longer having control. When we have an amazing Lord who is working all things for our good, then worry shouldn’t even have a place in our lives.

We can place all the chaos, all the pain and suffering into His care and watch how He sorts it out. Granted, this is never “easy”, but it is possible. It has taken years for me to perfect this in my own life, but I am still in training and keep leaning on God. Yes, life’s hardships will come, but through them, faith is what gets us through. There’s nothing more comforting than knowing that we serve a God that has walked in our shoes and is there to pick us up. So, “cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you” I Peter 5:7. He is for you and He knows. He just needs you to have faith that everything will work out for your good and His glory and plan for your life.
